This course equips participants in supervisory and management roles, as well as those aspiring to these positions, with the skills and knowledge to identify, assess, control, and monitor workplace risks. Learners will gain practical expertise in consulting with workers and stakeholders to develop, implement and evaluate workplace safety policies, procedures, and programs. Designed for individuals contributing to WHS risk management, the course covers key areas such as hazard identification, risk assessment, and applying effective risk controls in compliance with WHS legislation and organisational policies and procedures.

Course Delivery

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course Durations

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Refresher Face to Face contact time of at least 6 Hours
Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 8 Hours

Participants must have the physical capability to communicate with a range of people about WHS requirements and compliance. 

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

This certificate does not require renewal

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include: 

Performance tasks and scenarios:

  • During the practical assessment, the student must be able to demonstrate the following skills:   
    • Performance Task 1 – Conduct Risk Assessment
    • Performance Task 2 – Develop a Risk Control Plan
    • Performance Task 3 – Communicate a Risk Analysis
    • Performance Task 4 – Evaluate Efficacy of Risk Control
    • Case Study – Understanding the Risk Management Process

Documentation – The student must compete all documentation according to the required standard:

  • Risk Assessment form
  • Risk Register and Control Implementation
  • Evaluation Risk Control Plan

Theory assessment -   A written assessment consisting of a case study, short answer and multiple-choice questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
